Taylor's parents are from Jamaica. Since the age of 14, he has worked in the studio and on stage for renowned artists such as John Mayall, Jelly Bread, Jimmy Cliff, Desmond Dekker, Christine McVie, Prince Buster or Ashton, Gardner & Dyke. After making a name for himself in the 1970s through various studio works in London, Taylor came to Germany to work with producers such as Giorgio Moroder and Frank Farian. In 1978 he played with Supermax. One year later he founded the band Tokyo in Frankfurt. Ken Taylor played on tours of Keb' Mo', Noa and Sonny Landreth and Wolfgang Niedecken, among others. In-studio productions he also assisted musicians such as Brian May (Another World), Bruce Springsteen, Robert Palmer, Sally Oldfield, Rio Reiser, Stephan Remmler, Smokie, Alphaville, Udo Lindenberg, Xavier Naidoo, Sabrina Setlur and the Scorpions with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 1993 he has been a permanent member of the Peter Maffay Band for all live and studio productions.
Ken Taylor is also active as songwriter and composer. Taylor's son Leon Taylor is also a musician and took part in the German preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo in 2010. (taken from wikipedia.org)
